From October 21 to October 23, 2025, the BAG-INTEL consortium convened in Milan, Italy, for its 5th General Assembly. The three-day meeting, hosted and organized by the Italian Customs and Monopolies Agency (ADM), brought together representatives from all partner organisations to review the progress of the project, align on upcoming activities, and strengthen collaboration among technical and operational teams.
The event provided an important opportunity for all partners to exchange insights on the development and implementation of BAG-INTEL’s innovative AI-driven solutions for baggage screening and customs operations. Participants joined both in person and online, ensuring that all project members could contribute to the discussions and planning sessions.
Throughout the GA, each technical Work Package team presented updates on developments, results achieved since the previous meeting, and plans for the next project phase. These presentations were complemented by in-depth discussions on integration, data management, and the application of AI tools in operational environments.
The sessions also focused on communication, dissemination, and exploitation activities, as well as ethical, legal, and social considerations. The collaborative format of the meeting encouraged open dialogue, allowing partners to share feedback, address challenges, and identify synergies across work streams.

As part of the agenda, participants visited Linate Airport, one of the BAG-INTEL use case locations. The visit offered valuable insights into its operational context. Partners observed current baggage screening and customs control processes, providing an important reference point for further refinement of BAG-INTEL’s solutions.
The Milan General Assembly marked another key milestone for the consortium, reinforcing joint commitment to achieving BAG-INTEL’s objectives. With the continued support of end users, academic researchers, and technology providers, the project is steadily progressing toward its goal of enhancing the efficiency, accuracy, and safety of customs operations.
