The BAG-INTEL consortium is pleased to announce the release of a new video showcasing the successful deployment and testing of our 2nd Use Case at Thessaloniki Airport “Makedonia” in Greece. Filmed between March 9 and 13, 2026, the video offers an exclusive look at how the project’s integrated technologies are being applied in real-world, high-pressure airport environments to improve the efficiency of customs controls.
The video provides a comprehensive overview of the week-long deployment, highlighting several key technical and operational milestones:
- AI-Powered Risk Analysis & Visual Tracking: See our system in action as it uses AI and overhead cameras to visually track and re-identify suspicious luggage from the moment it leaves the aircraft until it reaches the customs inspection area.
- The “Digital Twin” Concept: The video introduces the use of 2D and 3D airport modeling to simulate passenger and baggage flows, alongside the installation of the XCT scanner for non-intrusive inspection.
- End-User Training: Watch as local customs officers undergo on-site training to get up to speed with the BAG-INTEL Integrated Platform, ensuring the technology meets the practical needs of Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs).
- Live Operational Demonstrations: The footage captures “low-risk” and “high-risk” scenarios involving consortium volunteers. These tests were designed to validate the system’s readiness in near-real operational conditions.
As we move toward the project’s conclusion in August 2026, the data gathered during this deployment will be used to further validate the platform through end-user interviews and questionnaires. These “actionable recommendations” will be vital in ensuring that BAG-INTEL provides a scalable, future-proof solution for European border security.
