On this page, you will find a list of all projects, initiatives, and organizations BAG-INTEL will liaise with during its runtime.
EC-funded projects
Below, you will find a list of Horizon Europe projects (in alphabetical order), which collaborate with BAG-INTEL.

CustomAI is a Horizon Europe project dedicated to transforming how customs authorities operate. By pioneering the next generation of AI-powered customs technologies, CustomAI aims to make customs processes intelligent, secure, and efficient — enabling authorities to manage growing trade volumes without increasing the number of human resources needed for the process. The CustomAI technologies will be validated through three dynamic use cases:
- Container inspections at the ports of Valencia (Spain), Constanta (Romania), and Aarhus (Denmark).
- Parcel inspections at Copenhagen Airport (Denmark).
- Detection of illegally exported cultural goods tested and demonstrated in a laboratory environment.
Through these efforts, CustomAI represents a major step toward next-generation, data-driven customs operations that strengthen security and facilitate international trade.
CEASEFIRE (Advanced versatile artificial intelligence technologies and interconnected cross-sectoral fully-operational national focal points for combating illicit firearms trafficking) is a 3-year, EC-funded Horizon Europe project, developing a highly innovative approach for aiding EU Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) in their struggle to detect, analyze and track cross-border illicit firearms trafficking through advanced AI and ICT tools, as well as by helping establish relevant fully-operational National Focal Points (NFPs) to increase LEA operational capabilities.
The MELCHIOR project aims to improve fast detection of drugs, explosives, weapons, and illicit goods concealed on individuals and in critical human cavities. The technology uses infrasound mechanical impedance interrogation and non-contact technologies, enhancing border staff safety and ensuring travelers’ privacy. The MELCHIOR solution is intended for operational environments, including airports, sea-ports, land borders, crowded events, and prisons. The technology is expected to significantly improve travelers’ experiences while protecting their privacy.
The ODYSSEUS European project aims to enhance the experience of border crossing for travelers and border authorities’ staff while keeping secure and tracking the movements across external water and land borders of the EU. This initiative aims to protect passengers’ fundamental rights while promoting the security and integrity of the European space by minimizing unauthorized cross-border movements of people and goods.
EU agencies
During its runtime, BAG-INTEL will also receive input and feedback from the EU agencies listed below. These agencies will support BAG-INTEL in the framework of their mandates to provide assistance to the EC-funded border security projects.
